If you love organization as much as I do, then this is the show for you! I binge-watched Netflix’s new show Get Organized with The Home Edit, I loved it because not only was it entertaining but also very informational. From watching the show, I learned so many organizational tips that I will be sharing with you guys today.
THE HOME EDIT "organizes every space in the home, from bedrooms and kitchens, to closets and pantries. Every project receives meticulous attention to detail, carefully considered systems, and our signature stylized aesthetic."
I loved how simple and straightforward Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin's method is. Whether they are organizing Khloe Kardashian house or any other client, they stick to the same practical steps that anyone can follow!
TIP #1- Edit
As someone who loves to hold on to everything, this is something I needed to hear! The first step in getting organized is to edit out everything you don't need or use. Whatever space you're working with, take everything out to see exactly what you have, and from there, you can clearly pick what you want to keep and what has to go.
TIP #2- Create Zones
It's important to divide and categorize your items! Clea and Joanna emphasize the importance of creating zones that way all your items have a designated place. With zones, you know exactly where everything is and where it has to go back.
TIP #3- Label
I think this has to be my favorite part because you can have fun with it! Labeling your items can help you keep an inventory of what you have and what you need to get. It's also a cute way just to know where everything is.
TIP#4- Use Containers to Maximize your Space
The Home Edit has a line at the Container Store where you can shop all the bins and containers they use in the show. Containers are great if you have a tight space and want to utilize every inch. I find containers great for drawers since it helps divide the space and prevents you from just throwing things in. They recommend using clear containers if your someone who needs to be held accountable and likes to see exactly what you have.
TIP#5- Respect the Zones
I find this to be the most important tip because respecting the zones you've created will make it easier for you to maintain the system and stay organized. Always try to put things in their zone and don't intrude into other zones because that will throw the entire system off. This will help you not over accumulate, and if a zone is getting messy again, its time to go back and edit!
I hope these tips helped you and lets get to organizing!
